A Home for Stories by debgrant
What Got Me Thinking:
A part of a poem by Padriag O’Tuama
We can find our sanity at the table of our talking. We can shape our future if we keep on with our talking. We can walk forever if we listen to our stories. We can tell our stories if our stories find a home.”
Recent lunches I have had at a Mexican Restaurant outdoor patio in the shade with friends who were passing through the area. The deliciousness of the stories shaped the day and fed us longer than the food.
The best compliment I have ever received: “You make room in the conversation for people to tell their stories.” Making room for stories can feed us forward, especially at times when we feel we have nothing to offer.
Why it matters:
Healing this time of insanity, at least in part, means finding a way back to the table of our talking. Small, safe gatherings in which we make room for each other in the conversations. Asking good questions. Listening deeply.
We have been alone too long inside our own heads. We need to find….WE again.

Every one of us has a story to share. The fact that you make room is so very important. Bless you!
Deep wisdom shared in this story of yours, Deb.
