I look forward to the day
when I am overcome by awe.
You know the kind of awe.
Like ocean-awe
Like a field of wheat-awe
Like a symphony-awe
Like a cheese-cake-awe
Like Redwood-forest-awe
Like Grand-Canyon-awe
Like Grandchildren-awe.
You know the kind.
I look forward to the day when
another human being especially a stranger
evokes that kind of awe.
Mind you, I have had moments but
I get in the way of the awe.
I’m getting better at listening and being
in the presence of another miracle.
I’m getting better.
I’m closer than I was yesterday.

Our culture has made us think that everything is AWESOME. You are right. We get in the way of the awe. Bless you as you remind us to be present to find our own awe. Please note that I am 76 and I am in awe that I can still crawl out of bed every morning.
