Getting Ready for Tomorrow by debgrant
I like trees.
Why it matters:
I have a friend who planted dozens of trees with his family during the pandemic. It was a good thing.
Trees, especially in my growning-up place, had seasons. A good reminder for us all.
Standing like a tree can lessen stress.
I woke up this morning worried about tomorrow, wanting to be more like a tree, needing to take a stand.
For what it is worth, here is my stand:
I am weary of fear and contempt so I choose love.
I am weary of despair so I choose love.
I am fully aware that I am only one person with limited resources so I choose love.
I am aware that I am a bundle of contradictions, messy fears, and survival instincts, so I choose love.
I am realistic about what love is up against and ready to define love each and every day as best I can. When that is exhausting, I will rest and try again tomorrow.
Whatever tomorrow brings, what matters is what I bring into tomorrow. I choose love.
Peace,
Deb
