Message to My Younger Self by debgrant
3rd of 4 children means you have the fewest pictures in the family albums. It’s just life. Nothing personal.
Your mother liked how she dressed you and prepared your hair for your First Grade photo. You will never forget how you hated that preparation. The blouse was itchy. You will live long enough to have a ponytail again on your own terms.
You are sporting your summer tan, a hint of a black eye, and a scab of a wound. You played chicken on your tricycle with your brother on his bicycle. You didn’t chicken. The scab would heal. Your stubbornness will remain in your life. Sometimes you will pick your battles well. Sometimes not. You will heal.
Oh, and for God’s sake, floss your damn teeth.
So, how about you? What would you say to your younger self?
Peace,
debgrant
I’d add a picture of me at 6, with my cowgirl outfit complete with a my 2 six gun holster. I’ve given up the pistols but try to hold on to the girl.
