Redeeming the Time
Redeeming the Time by debgrant
Make the most of the time.
Don’t waste time.
Life is short.
Time’s a wastin’.
Reclaiming my time.
Redeeming the time.
That’s my favorite.
The others serve their purpose
At the right time,
But “redeeming the time” is rich
With grace.
A chance to pick up the pieces.
To find something born in a disaster
That is worth keeping without doing the math of
Does the good outweigh the bad?
I clamored for my own soul, my own voice in
The wake of a parent’s death.
I found a friend of a lifetime inside a hurricane.
I created words & art inside a pandemic.
I redeemed the time.
I have no control over time
But it doesn’t have to measure me.
I like analog clocks.
They speak of where we are,
Where we’ve been
Where we are going
And it measures the movement of the planet in a day.
And circles around to begin again.
It gives us the time without measuring us
Or how we spend it
Or how we redeem it
Or judging who we are.
